To preserve
Equality and human rights
As humans we must insist
To continue our fights,
As for ourselves these at least
We should reserve,
Is there anything else as human beings
That we so naturally deserve?
Speaking freely and thinking with clarity
Opposing all oppressions
And promoting equality –
Allows us to defeat
All repressions and suppressions,
Ensuring that there won’t be any repeat
Of any aggressions and subjugations,
So that we can have the power
To cope with the reality
The way that only we see fit.
What gives
One human the right
To steal from another
This basic human need –
To be able to live and thrive
And a chance to succeed.
Torture and killings
Are the worst things
That we can do to each other
As human beings.
Torture and killing
Is the worst kind of stealing
Of their basic human rights
That anyone can face.
And it is a disgrace
To the humanity as a whole
As it brings us down,
While imparting its toll,
From the height
That we claim for ourselves
As a very unique and superior type.
And what is the gain
After all the sufferings and all the pains?
Perverse sense of accomplishments?
Sick sense of fulfillments?
Deranged mentality?
Taking pleasure in the cruelty?
Revenge?
Could not have been arranged
In any other way?
With their flesh and blood
Did they really have to pay?
Selfish motives?
Money power and greed?
Enjoying the flavors
From the egotistical feeds?
And the cause?
Failure to think or even to take a pause?
Unable to restrain
From dark desires and primal instincts?
Things that were supposed to make us distinct
From all other creations,
We give up so easily
And make such deviations?
While other animals may kill
But only for food
Why do we torture and kill
But only to satisfy our mood?
Examples all over
Always tend to hover
Of violations of many different kinds,
Sometimes visible
But many times behind our sight
Keeping us blind.
As we speak
Somebody somewhere
Are being victims of
Some kind of pain and some kind of torture.
Their cries they are the only ones
Who can hear
And the walls around them
Are the only ones who can watch their tears.
Enclosed by the darkness
Their spirits and their souls feel the sharpness
Of the stabs that are inflicted,
As the frailty of our human character
Through this kind of actions and behavior
Is so clearly reflected!
