Stress
Really creates a big mess
Inside our brain
Apart from the pain
That we sustain
From its effects
It directs
Our mental resources
Sometimes to wasteful
And unwanted courses,
As if some unbeatable force
Is controlling the terrain.
Which may leave us
Unable to focus
To where we need to concentrate
As it can break
Our train of thoughts
Or may lead to unreasonable
Or irrational
Mental plots
That we would not
Otherwise create or resort
To in normal circumstances.
It may create some mental dances
To which we may mistakenly
Continue to tune
And we may find ourselves
Consumed
With its beats and sounds
Which may keep us bound
To unhealthy physical and mental
Rounds.
Breaking out of these cycles
Requires coping skills
To tackle
This kind of mental tortures.
Dealing with the underlying causes
May give us the breaks and the pauses
And may be some new overtures
That may reduce the intensity
Making the overall situation appear
To have much less pressure and gravity.
Thus desperation may lessen or disappear
And some hope may have a chance
To reappear.
Stress
Depresses
Our happiness,
Represses our joys
And replaces
Them with sadness.
It may sometimes be needed
To change the perspectives
And not remain captive
To only one specific
Way of looking at things
Which may then bring
Other kinds of lights
That may have the potential
To make things bright
That appeared dark
Previously.
And then we may be able to park
Our mind and our brain
In a more comfortable place,
So we should give this a try
Seriously.
Thus avoiding
Any habit of catastrophizing
Is a known strategy of minimizing
The amount of stress
That any situation or circumstances
May be causing.
Many other strategies are available
If we find ourselves
Sinking in an ocean of stress
And feeling not so stable.
Expert help may be required
If we lack the capacity
To address
Or have fired
Our own capabilities
Or just don’t know how to do it.
As stress really can overwhelm
And create more severe
And additional problems
On top of what we initially
Started with.
A downward spiral
May happen
As our disruptive mental analysis
May go viral
Inside our brain
Leading to some operational paralysis.
And many different symptoms
Physical and psychological
May show up
Sometimes at random
And interfere with
Our daily activities
And our emotions.
And if stress becomes chronic
It may require some much potent tonics
And much stronger tools
To deal with this condition.
Resorting to tobacco, drugs or alcohols
Will bring many other serious tolls
And will only be ironic
As things usually will get worse
And may even get
Out of control.
So before acting like a fool
Can we try to follow
This one simple rule
That trying to hide any problem
Usually gives it an environment
To incubate
And gives it the required moments
To enlarge and multiply.
So addressing rather than hiding
Is the strategy that may be we should
Always try.
Some stress
Will always remain
As part of being human,
We just would like to make it less
And manageable
So that we can keep our lives
A little more enjoyable!
